Functional Insulin Treatment: Competent Patient Leadership

Focus of our research

  1. Translational research in effective cardiovascular prevention based on rehabilitation engineering in structured patient education.
  2. Assessment of incipient cardiovascular damage as caused by diabetes, hyperlipidemia and hypertension, using heart rate variability and/or 24h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
  3. Development of media for cardiovascular prevention and patient education
  4. Hypoglycemia unawareness and restoration of hypoglycemia awareness in type 1 diabetes mellitus, hypoglycemia threshold sensor
  5. Algorithms for management of diabetes in pregnancy, normalization of pregnancy outcomes.
  Rehabilitation engineering:

  1. Development of appropriate, end-user suitable devices and procedures for effective treatment of diabetes, hypertension, obesity and hyperlipidemia
  2. “Closing the loop” -- algorithms for insulin dosage
